Your Installer and Today’s Audio/Video Technologies…
What Do They Need To Know?
There is much more to installing audio and video entertainment
equipment than may first meet the eye. The knowledge needed to
get cabling from one point to another is only one facet. A
quality installer understands the technical aspects of every
piece of equipment that he or she connects. They must be aware
of the consequences of every type of electrical conduit. They
should be well grounded in the physical effects of equipment
placement. They must comprehend these outcomes in any given
situation.
They have to be music and vision enthusiasts of considerable
experience to confidently predict the end result….
Questions that you should put to your installer…
• How many different types of cable do I need run to my Plasma
screen or Projector?
•
What are the differences between those cables?
• How would you connect multiple pairs of speakers to one
amplifier?
• What are the dangers of doing this incorrectly?
• Where is the best position for my rear speakers in a Dolby
Digital or DTS based system?
• Where in the room should my subwoofer be placed, ideally?
• What kind of cable should be used to connect my subwoofer in
order to get the best performance?
• What is the difference between floor-standing, shelf-mounted,
bracket-mounted and flush-mounted speakers?
• What should be considered if my equipment is to be concealed
in a cupboard or similar?
• What makes one speaker, digital or video cable better than
another?
These are just a sample of the kinds of things that a competent
installer/designer must know. There is so much more. Make sure
your installer knows what they are doing. |
